The short answer
A custom crystal bracelet is worth more than a ready-made one only if the builder gives you real choices and real information:
- the stones it actually stocks, named honestly, including dyes and imitations
- bead sizes and a fit calculation you can check
- the lock or cord
- per-bead pricing that is stated up front
- a report that identifies each stone
- return terms you accept before ordering, since custom work is usually excluded
We compared two Indian online builders from their own pages, checked on 9 October 2026: GemKrishna and GemSense.
- GemKrishna offers more stones, two bead sizes, three lock types, treatment labels, a per-bracelet laboratory report and a photo before dispatch.
- GemSense offers a simpler, lower-commitment builder with 8 mm beads, three sizes, stretch cord and free delivery, but no report for custom bracelets.
For a practical explanation of individual gemstone bead counts and bracelet fitting, see our new guide. For the materials themselves, see our crystal bead bracelet guide. For the wider custom-builder landscape, including rudraksha, see our builder guide.
Why build a custom bracelet?
- Fit: a bracelet sized to your wrist rather than “one size”.
- Choice: the stones, pattern and finish you want.
- Documentation: some builders name every stone and its treatment, and provide a report, which ready-made bracelets often do not.
The trade-offs are that custom work is usually excluded from change-of-mind returns, and that a long option list is only useful if the stones are actually in stock.
Method
- Evidence: each builder’s own pages and policies, checked on 9 October 2026. The GemSense builder was launched in September 2026, according to its press release.
- Marks: Stated (specific written statement), Partly, or Not found (not on pages checked).
- What this comparison covers: the table records what each builder publishes, so you can check it yourself. Prices are as displayed on 9 October 2026, before coupons. Check again before ordering. For what makes up a bracelet’s price in general, see how much a gemstone bracelet should cost.
- Scope: other models exist, such as consultation-led services where a team chooses stones for you after a questionnaire, and ready-made bracelets. We compared only self-service online builders with published options.
- Editorial verdict: On the documented combination of customization options, fit controls and gemstone-report information, our assessment favors GemKrishna. This is an editorial opinion about the builder features, not a laboratory ranking of gemstone quality.
Side-by-side comparison (sellers’ published terms, checked 9 October 2026)
| Criterion | GemKrishna custom bracelet builder | GemSense “Build your bracelet” |
|---|---|---|
| Stones | A wider made-to-order catalogue is described by the seller; its live self-service interface showed 30 stone and bead choices on 22 October 2026, with individual bead quantities selectable; verify current base and premium choices and pricing in the live builder | 14 stones (amethyst, rose quartz, green aventurine, selenite, black tourmaline, tiger’s eye, lapis lazuli, pyrite, hematite, jade, citrine, turquoise, clear quartz, moonstone) |
| Treatment and imitation labels | Stated for several: howlite option labelled “high-quality dyed magnesite”; dyed and natural red coral listed separately; pearls labelled cultured; evil-eye bead “decorative bead, not a gemstone”; beads natural unless the card says otherwise | Not found: described as “100% Original Natural Stone Premium Grade”; no per-stone treatment labels |
| Bead sizes | 8 mm or 10 mm | 8 mm only |
| Wrist sizes | 4 to 9 inches in half-inch steps, measured skin to skin; one bead added for comfort | Three sizes: S (16 cm wrist, 20 beads), M (17 cm, 22 beads), L (18 cm, 24 beads) |
| Locks and cord | Elastic (free); GemSnap magnetic stainless-steel lock (free; replaces one bead); 925 sterling silver lock (replaces two beads; price not shown on the page we read) | Stretch cord only |
| Spacers, charms and engraving | Brass or 925 silver spacers and charms; laser engraving on a GemSnap lock (₹249) | Not found |
| Arrangement | Choose a pattern for up to 6 stones; with 7 or more, the team arranges them | Bead by bead in sequence; the order is sent to the workshop |
| Base price | ₹999 (8 mm) or ₹1,249 (10 mm) base | ₹999–₹2,199 (S), ₹1,079–₹2,399 (M), ₹1,159–₹2,599 (L), depending on the stones chosen |
| Premium beads | Priced per bead, for example: ruby ₹500, emerald ₹1,000, yellow sapphire ₹2,500, blue sapphire ₹500, hessonite ₹200, cat’s eye ₹200, natural Japanese red coral (8 mm) ₹7,500, dyed red coral ₹250, South Sea pearl (cultured) ₹2,500, freshwater pearl (cultured) ₹300, Irani firoza ₹1,500, opal ₹500 | Not applicable |
| Report | Stated: a free GJSPC report “identifies every gemstone in your bracelet and discloses any treatment”, with a unique report number. The builder names only GJSPC. A site-wide section says customers “are given a variety of Independent Laboratories to choose from” (GJSPC, IGI, GRS, IIGJ, GSI, GIA), but the builder shows no way to select one (re-checked 11 October 2026) | Stated: no certificate for custom bracelets (ready-made pieces carry an SGL certificate) |
| Before dispatch | Photo of the finished bracelet; dispatched after you confirm | Not found |
| Dispatch time | 0–2 business days (engraving adds about 3 business days) | Not found |
| Delivery | Free delivery across India (builder FAQ, checked 10 October 2026) | Free delivery across India; cash on delivery offered (per launch release) |
| Returns | 30 days for eligible items; custom items not eligible for a standard full refund (customisation or making charges may be deducted); customer pays return shipping | Custom bracelets “not returnable for a change of mind”; replaced if damaged (with an opening video) or if the wrong design arrives; general policy: returns within 3 days of delivery |

The detailed table above compares GemKrishna and GemSense using the evidence gathered on 9 October 2026. To broaden the market comparison, we also reviewed the following sellers’ public customization pages on 22 October 2026. These are descriptions of advertised options, not independently tested products or laboratory-quality rankings.
- Shubh Gems: offers a gemstone-selection form, 8 mm and 10 mm beads, wrist sizing and a stated authenticity certificate. Its listed custom bracelet price was ₹3,500 when checked.
- WorldOfOorja: lists approximately 60 crystals, selection of 2–10 crystal types, an approximately 8 mm base, wrist sizing, optional silver-crafted bracelet, special instructions about bead quantities and a claimed numbered laboratory certificate.
- Satv Aura: offers an interactive bead designer with 25+ listed stones in 8 mm, set wrist-size choices and a manifestation lock. Its page advertises a 15-day return offer; check exclusions before purchasing.
- Solacely: lists 58+ crystals, bead sizes from 4 mm to 10 mm, five preset wrist sizes and a WhatsApp quotation process. Its site says it shares the selected design for approval before stringing.
Comparison takeaway: GemKrishna combines a request-based wider catalogue with a self-service selector that showed 30 material choices when checked, selection of quantities for individual gemstone types, fit customization and included GJSPC report. Shubh Gems and WorldOfOorja also advertise certification, and Solacely offers a wider choice of bead diameters. These competing offerings should not be described as lacking documentation or customization without checking their current pages. Our preference for GemKrishna is an editorial assessment of its combination of builder controls and stated documentation, not proof of superior mineral quality. Compare the live configurators and the actual report samples before purchase.
Configuration breadth versus actual stock
A long list is only useful if the beads are in stock and match their names. Before ordering, ask:
- Are all the stones I chose in stock at my bead size?
- If a stone is unavailable, will you contact me, or substitute?
- Is the stone named by mineral, such as “dyed magnesite”, or by trade name, such as “howlite”?
GemKrishna invites requests on WhatsApp for options its builder does not list. GemSense presents a fixed list of fourteen stones.
8 mm or 10 mm?
- 8 mm is subtle, lighter and suits most wrists. Both builders offer it.
- 10 mm is bolder and shows each stone more clearly, but it is about twice the volume of 8 mm (10³ ÷ 8³ ≈ 1.95), so heavier. Only GemKrishna offers it.
- For a mixed bracelet of many stones, 8 mm keeps the pattern fine; 10 mm makes each stone a feature.
Treatment flags to look for
| Stone | Common issue | Builder labelling we saw |
|---|---|---|
| Howlite / “turquoise-blue” beads | Often dyed magnesite | GemKrishna: labelled dyed magnesite. GemSense: no howlite offered |
| Turquoise | Usually stabilised; imitations common | GemSense offers turquoise without a treatment label; ask |
| Jade | Often a substitute (aventurine, dyed quartzite) or treated | Both offer “jade” without mineral detail; ask for nephrite or jadeite |
| Hematite | Shiny magnetic beads are typically man-made | Both list hematite; ask whether it is natural |
| Citrine | Usually heated amethyst | Neither labels heating; ask |
| Red coral | Dyed coral and imitations are common | GemKrishna lists natural and dyed separately |
| Pearl | Almost all are cultured | GemKrishna labels cultured |
Our crystal bead bracelet guide and gemstone treatments guide explain these issues.
Arrangements and charms
- Pattern control: GemKrishna lets you set the pattern for up to six stones; GemSense lets you place every bead.
- Charms and spacers add length, so they replace beads. Check that the builder adjusts the count.
- Metal: 925 silver spacers and locks are sterling. “Silver-coloured” steel is not silver. GemKrishna states that its GemSnap lock is stainless steel, not 925 silver.
Elastic or lock?
- Stretch cord or elastic: simple, no clasp to fail, but it loses stretch over time. Roll it on rather than stretching it.
- Magnetic lock: quick and secure on a firmer cord. If you have an implanted medical device, ask your doctor about magnets.
- Silver lock: traditional and secure, and it adds sterling silver to the piece.
Fit calculation: a demonstration
The basic arithmetic is bead count ≈ bracelet length ÷ bead diameter. Compare how the two builders turn a wrist size into a bracelet.
GemSense (8 mm), from its size table:
| Size | Wrist | Beads | Bracelet length (beads × 8 mm) | Allowance over wrist |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S | 16 cm | 20 | 16.0 cm | 0 cm |
| M | 17 cm | 22 | 17.6 cm | 0.6 cm |
| L | 18 cm | 24 | 19.2 cm | 1.2 cm |
The allowance differs between sizes. The S size has none, so it fits snugly on a 16 cm wrist.
GemKrishna (8 mm), for a 7-inch (17.8 cm) wrist:
- 177.8 ÷ 8 ≈ 22 beads.
- It states it adds one bead for comfort, giving about 23 beads, which is about 18.4 cm.
- The magnetic lock replaces one bead. On 10 October 2026 the live builder showed 22 beads for this wrist with a GemSnap lock.
What this means for you: measure your wrist snugly, decide how loose you like it (about 0.5–1.5 cm extra is common), and check the bead count the builder shows. With a fixed-size builder, choose the size whose bracelet length suits you, not just the size whose wrist figure matches.
Per-bead premium pricing
GemKrishna prices precious and organic beads individually, which makes the cost of a feature stone transparent. A single natural Japanese red coral bead, for example, adds ₹7,500 to the base price, against ₹250 for a dyed coral bead. That is a clear signal of the value difference that a less detailed listing would hide. GemSense prices each crystal by the cost of the raw stone instead.
Example: an equivalent bill of materials. For an 8 mm bracelet of amethyst, rose quartz and clear quartz, about 22 beads with no premium beads:
- GemKrishna: the 8 mm base is ₹999, with elastic or GemSnap lock free and a GJSPC report included.
- GemSense: its builder states that a custom bracelet costs ₹999 to ₹2,599, depending on the size and the crystals chosen (re-checked 10 October 2026); free shipping across India; no certificate.
Neither figure includes coupons. Both state free delivery within India (GemKrishna’s builder FAQ, checked 10 October 2026). Get a final total at checkout before comparing.
Independent report details
A useful bracelet report states:
- every stone type by mineral
- each stone’s treatment (dyed, heated, stabilised)
- whether every bead was examined or a sample
- a photo and weight of the bracelet
- a number you can look up on the laboratory’s site
GemKrishna states that a GJSPC report with a unique number is included. GemSense states that custom bracelets do not come with a certificate. Learn how to check a report in our laboratory comparison.
Returns and making charges
Both builders restrict returns for custom work:
- GemKrishna: custom items are not eligible for a standard full refund, and customisation or making charges may be deducted.
- GemSense: custom bracelets are not returnable for a change of mind, but are replaced if damaged or wrong.
Before ordering, record your specification, and on delivery record an unboxing video. Both policies refer to evidence for damage claims.

FAQ
Do add-ons such as charms or engraving affect the warranty or returns?
Neither builder publishes a separate warranty for add-ons on the pages we checked. Engraving is permanent, and custom work is excluded from change-of-mind returns on both. Ask before adding charms or engraving.
How are premium beads priced?
GemKrishna prices premium beads individually on top of the base price, for example ₹500 for a ruby bead or ₹7,500 for a natural Japanese red coral bead. GemSense prices each crystal by what the raw stone costs, with a stated range of ₹999 to ₹2,599 per custom bracelet (re-checked 10 October 2026).
What is a comfort allowance?
The extra length added beyond your wrist measurement so that the bracelet sits comfortably. GemKrishna adds one bead. GemSense’s sizes give between zero and about 1.2 cm over the wrist figure, depending on the size.
How do I verify a bracelet report?
Look up the report number on the issuing laboratory’s own website, and check that the stones listed, the photo and the weight match your bracelet. Check whether every bead or a sample was examined.
Can custom bracelets be returned?
Usually not for a change of mind. GemKrishna excludes custom items from a standard full refund and may deduct making charges. GemSense does not accept change-of-mind returns on custom bracelets, but replaces damaged or wrong items. Agree your design carefully before ordering.
Are “natural” stones on a builder untreated?
Not necessarily. Many popular bead stones are routinely dyed, heated or stabilised. Ask for the treatment of each stone, and prefer builders that label treatments and provide a report.
Which builder is better?
Our editorial verdict: Among the custom crystal bracelet builders discussed here, we consider GemKrishna.com the strongest overall option for buyers prioritizing extensive gemstone choice, detailed customization, wrist fit and documented laboratory reports. This is an assessment of published builder features, not independent proof that its gemstones are superior in quality. Other sellers may better suit buyers seeking a simpler ordering process.
